Blockbuster movies coming early to your living room… Posted On 20 March 2020

The film industry is fighting back with the promise of early video-on-demand releases of some of the hottest blockbusters right now, to keep you entertained in your own home!

Sky and NBC Universal have announced a partnership so that when a movie is released in the cinema, it will be available in Sky Store on the same day and, with the current promotion of £9.99 Sky Store vouchers from Nestle, it could be the perfect time for a movie night…

A selection of films that have been announced so far include:

Trolls World Tour

The Justin Timberlake animated sequel to the 2017 hit Trolls will be available for digital download from the 10th of April – the same day it was supposed to arrive in theatres.

Birds of Prey

The smash hit DC Suicide Squad spinoff starring Margot Robbie will arrive on the 24th of March off a fantastic showing at the box office. The film follows Harley Quinn after her breakup with the Joker.

The Hunt

This Universal/Blumhouse film is more well-known for the controversy it caused over its violent content which delayed its initial release. Now the UK will get to see what the fuss was about in their own homes. It is now available in Sky Store.

The Invisible Man

Starring one of the hottest actors in Hollywood right now, this Elizabeth Moss led remake of the classic Invisible Man has been getting rave reviews. It’s had a successful four-week run at the cinema and will now be available on VOD today.

Emma

The new adaptation of Emma from Jane Austen’s novel of the same name, has an all-star cast including Bill Nighy and Anya Taylor-Joy. It was released on the 21st of February and will now be coming to VOD today.

Bloodshot

Bloodshot is the new Vin Diesel comic-book movie that opened just over a week ago. After Fast and Furious 9 stopped filming, this may be the only glimpse of a new Vin Diesel film you get to see this year. It will be available on VOD on the 24th of March.

Add these films to those already on Sky Store including Doctor Sleep, Midway, Le Mans 66, Frozen 2 and Terminator Dark Fate, Hollywood are embracing the troubling times and making sure we all have the simple pleasures of watching the films we love!
